The Limi Valley sits in Humla district, in the extreme north-west corner of Nepal touching the Tibet border. Three villages — Til, Halji, and Jang — preserve Tibetan Buddhist culture untouched by the changes that have transformed eastern Nepal. 22 days of remote, high-altitude walking through one of the least-visited corners of the Himalaya.
Why this trek
- Restricted-area permit (USD 50 per week) keeps numbers extremely low — under 200 trekkers per year on this route.
- Halji's Rinchenling Gompa is over 1,000 years old and one of the most important Buddhist sites in Nepal.
- Trans-Himalayan terrain — rain shadow, so trekking is possible during the summer monsoon when the rest of Nepal is wet.
- Max altitude 4,960 m at the Nyalu La pass.
This is a major expedition trek. Fly in to Simikot (via Nepalgunj), camp throughout, walk a 22-day loop. We run it with a full crew and Tibetan-Nepali guides familiar with the Limi communities.
